After the past couple of years we’ve had, it probably comes as no surprise that more and more families are looking for more natural ways to get and stay healthy. Many families are also looking to become more self-sustaining and knowledgeable about the “old ways” when our great-grandparents’ generation still relied on their own skills and land to provide for their families. All of this is true for myself and my family. We have been slowly but steadily making changes in our daily lives that promote health, wellness, self-sustainability, and peace. It certainly hasn’t been an easy transition, but it is one that we are committed to. And so far, the effort has been worth the reward!
This holiday gift ideas guide is for you if you or someone you know is on this same path. These are my suggestions for thoughtful, wellness-centered gifts. Hopefully, this will be a good resource for you as the gift-giver (or you can pass it along to someone for holiday gift ideas for you!).
Holiday Gift Ideas for Wellness-Minded Families
Gift Ideas For Moms or Dads
The Garden Tower
This is my new favorite toy, and I absolutely love it! For those who love gardening or want to start, the Garden Tower 2 is the perfect way to do it. This is a rotating, 50-plant, composting vertical garden planter. It is ideal for people with small spaces (like a small balcony patio or very little yard space). I love the fact that it is also a vermicomposter, which means you can fill the center tube with kitchen scraps, add some red wriggler worms (find some here), and let nature feed the soil in your garden tower. I filled my Garden Tower 2 with vegetables and herbs, and it has exploded in an abundance of delicious goodness!
Royal Berkey Gravity Fed Water Filter System
Berkey’s are the best of the best when it comes to water purification. The black filters have been tested to remove over 200 contaminants from your water. This includes viruses removed at 99.999%, pathogenic bacteria at 99.9999%, Chloramine below lab detectable limit, trihalomethanes at 99.8%, pharmaceuticals at 99.9%, and pesticides below the lab detectable limit. You can also purchase fluoride reduction filters. I bought my first Berkey almost a year ago, and it produces the cleanest, most delicious water I’ve ever tasted. This is a gift that will continue to give for a very long time!
Earthley Whipped Body Butter
This body butter is my absolute favorite body moisturizer. It is made with 100% natural butters, oils, and essential oils to nourish skin without harmful chemicals or additives. I have always had super sensitive skin, and this body butter is one of the only products I can use that does not irritate my skin. Earthly has a fantastic array of natural body, beauty, and health products. You can’t go wrong giving the gift of natural, nourishing, pampering goodness!
Essential Oils
You can transform your home and your lifestyle with some fundamental essential oils. You can eliminate so many toxins from your home by making your own cleaning products and health and beauty products using essential oils. This is a wonderful kit to start with, and they can be used topically or aromatically using a good diffuser.
Herbalism Books
I just started a deep dive into herbalism, and I am loving it! Learning how to treat my family using herbs gives me peace of mind and a deeper understanding of how our bodies heal. I have several books on the subject now, but this one is one of my favorites and a good book for beginners.
Diffuser
A good diffuser is a must-have for any natural-minded home! This one, called the Aria, is my favorite, and we use it daily. It’s beautiful to look at, but it also has an amazing output and can be used in larger rooms.
Kombucha Brewing Kit
Kombucha is a fermented tea that provides a wide variety of health benefits, including lowering cholesterol, lowering blood sugar, antimicrobial action, decreased rates of cancer, and improvement of liver and GI function. Buying kombucha can be expensive and may contain ingredients you don’t necessarily want in a healthy drink. Making your own kombucha is easy with this DIY kit!
Stainless Steel Water Bottle
We all know drinking a lot of water daily helps your body flush out toxins and stay healthy and hydrated. But those plastic water bottles aren’t the healthiest option. Using a stainless steel water bottle is a much better way to keep your water intake on the up and up! There are many options out there, but this bottle is so pretty and one of my faves.
Beeswax Candle
Did you know most candles are toxic? Most candles are made of paraffin wax and synthetic fragrances. When they are burned, they release harmful chemicals into the air. Beeswax candles, on the other hand, are completely natural and burn cleanly. They have a lovely subtle scent and give off a warm glow. If you are into burning candles, beeswax is the only way to go for a healthy home environment.
Sunrise Alarm Clock
This sunrise alarm clock is on my wish list this year! It combines a sound machine and an alarm clock that wakes you gently with a slow increase of light. This is a more natural way of awakening and supports healthy cortisol levels. You can even control this clock with an app on your phone!
Survival Gear Kit
Dads will especially love this survival gear kit! It is full of gadgets and gizmos for hunting, camping, fishing, hiking, and first aid that could come in very handy for an outdoorsy family.
Harvest Basket
For the gardener, this harvest basket will come in handy when it’s time to go shopping in your own garden for dinner. It’s large enough to handle even the biggest of vegetables. It’s made of hardwood, pine, and wire so that it’s easy to hose down and keep clean.
Gift Ideas For The Kids
Camping Play Tent
One of the best ways to keep kids healthy is to get them outside! It’s amazing what a little dirt and sunshine can do for kids’ immune systems. This outdoor play tent is complete with a fake campfire and s’mores! Kids will love spending time outside playing in this tent.
Binoculars
Encourage outdoor exploration with a snazzy pair of binoculars! Kids can use these for bird watching, helping dad hunt, or even take them to an outdoor concert. Or they can be like my kids and get a closer look at bugs!
Tree Swing
What I would have given for this giant saucer tree swing when I was a kid! With a load capacity of 700 pounds, this awesome swing can handle multiple children at a time.
Kids Knife Set
This is the perfect gift for your budding little chef. Teaching kids how to prepare and cook whole, healthy foods is essential for raising them to be wellness-minded. Get them in the kitchen with you with this kid-friendly knife set.
Outdoor Scavenger Hunt
Find and Seek is a scavenger hunt game kids can play indoors or outdoors. This game encourages kids to discover nature and the world around them and it can easily be taken on vacation or to grandma’s house.
Mindfulness Cards
Teaching kids about mindfulness from an early age is so beneficial for them. These cards are full of guided imagery exercises and meditative breathing exercises, all geared toward kids. They are beautifully illustrated, too!
Life Skills Book
This activity book is a fun way for kids to learn about real-life skills. It includes skills like sewing, laundry, making your bed, having a telephone conversation, online safety, how to read a map and so many more things! I bought this book for my daughter and can’t wait to give it to her.
Gardening Book
For your little gardener, this book can’t be beat. It provides step-by-step instructions for kids to get started on growing their own herbs, flowers, and vegetables. Teaching them how to grow their own food from an early age will be a gift that will benefit them for years to come!
I hope these holiday gift ideas are helpful to you this holiday season! What other natural or wellness products would you put on this list?
