It is no secret that I am not a fan of summer time. Here in Buda, Texas, it is just too damn hot and humid for about 5 months straight. We try to make the best of it by hanging out by the pool or one of the many beautiful natural swimming holes, caves and springs we have in the hill country. But, I have to admit that I spend more time inside than out during the long, hot months of summer. And if I’m going to be chillin’ (literally) in my house during these sweaty months, I want it to look pretty and summery!
Even though summer is not my jam, I do enjoy decorating for it. When else would I be able to use my vintage blue fishing float balls or handpainted, personalized wood buoys (click here for the tutorial on how to make them)! Of course, I usually tend to lean toward my preferred French country feel even when I’m decorating for the summer months…but maybe I’ll throw in a bit of beachy nautical vibes for fun. Why not?
Anyway, decorating for summer can be really simple and fun. Just swapping out your throw blankets and pillows for lighter colors and fabrics leaves your space feeling more breezy. Adding a few summery decor items here and there (like the buoys or a lantern or summer wreath) will help you complete the look with little fuss. Easy, right?
So if you’re looking for some inspiration for adding summer touches to your home (without breaking the bank), I’ve found some amazing picks for you! Here are some of my favorite French country inspired summer decor that I LOVE for this season. Which is your favorite?

Such cute choices! I love the bicycle pillows and the lavender in the wreath!
The personalized wood bouys are awesome! While I like to spend as much time as possible outside in the summer (but also live the in Midwest) I do like the decorate using lighter shades!
Beautiful pieces! I’ll have to check these out to add some french country summer touches to my home.
