Welcome to the first post in my new series called Room by Room Fall Decor! In this series I’m going to focus on a particular room for each post and show you ways you can easily add touches of fall to your decor. Today I’m going to show you some of my favorite inspiration for fall decor for your living room (and I’ll give you some links for where to get some great stuff!).
Since fall is one of my favorite seasons to decorate for, I tend to go all out with it! It can be a little overwhelming to try to figure out how to add little touches here and there, though, so I thought I’d give you a few tips and show you some of my favorite inspiration to get your fall decor juices flowing!

Fall Decor Ideas for Your Living Room
Knit Throw Blankets
Chunky knit throw blankets are all the rage right now and it’s really not hard to see why. Have you seen anything more deliciously cozy than a chunky knit throw? Every time I see one I just want to curl up with a book and a cup of coffee and escape the world for a few hours. Adding a knit throw to the back of your couch or tossed on your favorite cozy chair is the perfect way to welcome the cooler season to your living room decor!

Festive Throw Pillows
I am the kind of person that changes her pillow covers with the seasons. It makes a huge difference in the look of your room and adds a bit of character and texture to your otherwise pretty plain couch. I love to add sweater pillows and festive pumpkin pillows to my couch and chairs for fall. Layering different textures and colors of pillows really add a sense of dimension and cozy warmth to the space as well.

Baskets
I love using baskets in home decor, but I especially love it in fall! There are so many ways your can utilize them: add a bunch of colorful pumpkins, or a throw blanket and some pillows. Or fill a basket with firewood by the fireplace. Or keep a basket of blankets near a comfy chair. There are so many ways you can decorate with baskets–they are a must for fall decor!

Pumpkins
Adding pumpkins to your decor should be a given, but I totally get it if you’re not a fan of all that orange. I don’t mind orange when it comes to fall decor, but I still tend to go more toward blues and greens and whites, even with my pumpkins. Luckily, dusty blue and green pumpkins are very popular right now and can be found at just about any craft store. And white pumpkins are always in style, classic and gorgeous!

Candles
There is nothing more cozy than candles in decor! I love to have all kinds of candles peppered throughout the room, especially on the mantle and in vignettes on furniture surfaces, like a bookcase or on my antique piano. Mix it up by using candlesticks, from wood to brass, or set a group of fat pillar candles on a tray. If you don’t like burning real candles, you can use really nice looking LED candles instead. They look just as beautiful as the real thing!

Faux Fur
I love to add a bit of fur to my fall decor! I’ll place a faux fur rug across my ottoman and the seat of my piano. You can also layer a larger fur over a jute rug. I also have a large fur throw blanket that is my absolute favorite thing to snuggle under on really cool evenings!

Hand-Painted Signs
I have a special place in my heart for hand-painted signs in decor. I used to make them and sell them in my Etsy shop (should I re-open? I can’t decide!). There are so many cute ones out there and there are so many ways you can use them! In my living room, I’ll put a smaller sign on my bookshelf or on my mantle and add some pumpkins or a candle to make a sweet little vignette. This is a perfect way to add a touch of fall to your living room decor!

1. Candles
