I’m a bit quirky about cleaning my house. I like to keep things as tidy as possible and you will often find me following after my children picking up all the debris they leave in their wake. It would make my LIFE if someone could teach them how to put things back when they’re done playing with them, but that is another topic for another post.
Where was I? So, I’m a tidy-er. I also can’t go to bed at night if my main living spaces aren’t somewhat cleaned up. My kids’ upstairs playroom can be an absolute disaster and I couldn’t care less, but if my kitchen is messy I cannot sleep. Call me crazy, but I bet I’m not the only one with this problem (can I get an amen?).
To keep my sanity, one of my nightly rituals is cleaning my kitchen after dinner is done. My sweet husband takes the kids upstairs to start their baths and I stay downstairs to clean my kitchen. Once my kitchen is shiny and fresh again, I start to relax. Keeping it clean is also important for our mornings because I know that it will make our morning breakfast routine easier too. Ever since I started cleaning my kitchen every night after dinner, I have found that it makes keeping the rest of the house clean because I don’t have to worry about the hardest working room in the house–it’s already clean!
Since I’ve been doing this for a while now, I’ve narrowed down the products I use to just a handful that I love. These are my go-to products for keeping my kitchen sparkling:
Mrs. Meyers Kitchen Set
Anything that needs hand washing gets scrubbed with Mrs. Meyers Dish Soap. It smells amazing and it doesn’t dry my hands. I also have been using Mrs. Meyers Multi-Surface Everyday Cleaner to clean my granite and it has been the best product I’ve found for cleaning granite without dulling it. It also smells amazing. Finally, I keep Mrs. Meyers Hand Soap in stock at all times. I love this stuff and, surprise, surprise, it smells divine. My favorite scents (besides the seasonal scents) are Honeysuckle, Basil, and Rosemary.
Bamboo Dish Brush
I love this little bamboo brush and ceramic dish for getting stuck on food off my dishes. It fits perfectly in the palm of my hand and the bristles are nice and firm without being too abrasive. I also love the bamboo look it’s got going on. This little brush will last me for about 6 months before I have to replace it.
Microfiber Dish Cloths
I love using microfiber to clean surfaces for several reasons: first, it’s environmentally friendly since you’re not wasting a ton of paper towels and, second, they don’t leave irritating lint behind! I ordered a pack of these microfiber cloths in grey (because I didn’t want staining to make me crazy), but they come in a ton of fun, bright colors. I use these with Mrs. Meyers Multi-Surface Everyday Cleaner on my granite and I’m pretty sure the combination of the two is magic.
e-cloth Range & Stovetop Cloth and e-cloth Kitchen Cloth
I just started using these chemical-free cleaning cloths and I must stay I am impressed. These cloths removed dirt and grime from kitchen surfaces with nothing but water. They claim that e-cloths remove over 99% of bacteria, including E-coli and Listeria. I am not a scientist so I can even begin to prove that that’s true, but what I can tell you is that I used these puppies to clean my range, refrigerator and oven and I was super impressed with how clean and shiny everything was!
I also love that these cloths are reusable and last for a long time (up to 6 years with once a week washing). I really love these kitchen cloths and they will become a staple in my nightly kitchen cleaning routine! (By the way, e-cloth is now available at Ace Hardware. Visit the Store Locator at www.ecloth.com to find your local participating store.)

What are your favorite products for keeping your kitchen clean?
I need to get me some of those kitchen cloths! I go through way too many paper towels to clean up at night!
I’ve used Meyer brand for years and love all of their products. I definitely need to invest in some microfiber cloths… I use way too many paper towels! Great list.
I should invest in some decent cloths. I should also make a regular nightly cleaning routine! Gah. . .someday.
I am the SAME WAY about the kitchen!! I cannot go to bed until it is completely cleaned!
Thanks for sharing! I love the look of that bamboo scrubber. I could really use something like that.
